The roller derby is one of the many things I was introduced to upon moving to Montreal. The whole thing consists of girls skating around a rink and hitting each other. The more they can stay up, the more points they gain (this is obviously an over simplified explanation). It truly is a perfect fit with the city. There is alcohol in the stands, accompanied by some chanting, girls banging at each other on the floor. Did I mention the alcohol? :).
